Championship Course

Hole-by-hole Overview

The Championship Course has been the home of several North Florida PGA events. It’s an equal opportunity course – birdies, pars and bogies await golfers of all playing abilities.

Hole #1
A gentle opening par-4 and a good start to your round; out-of-bounds lurks on the right, so keep you tee shot down the left side of the fairway. The green is fairly flat.

Hole #2
Another good opening hole at 334 yards; Those with confidence in their driver will definitely want to roll the dice off the tee but the average player may want to play for placement.

Hole #3
This is where things start to get really interesting…a long par-3 at 197 yards. Choose you club selection wisely – anything from a 3-iron to fairway metal.

Hole #4
The first of our four par-5s and a great chance for birdie given its length – only 485 yards. The tee shot crosses a water hazard, and big hitters will have no trouble here. This is good opportunity for going for the green in ‘two’ or playing a lay-up for strategic positioning to approach the well-bunkered green.

Hole #5
The #2 handicap hole on the course is a true masterpiece! You’ll need a long precise tee shot as the fairways are well-guarded by native oaks. Its 428 yards plays all that and more.

Hole #6
A respite…a short par 4 but keep your tee shot to the left as the right side of the fairway has trees and out-of-bounds. The biggest mistake newcomers to the course make on #6 is thinking that it’s as easy as it looks.

Hole #7
A good birdie chance awaits on this par-5 529 yard hole, with homes down the right and trees left. Two well-placed shots make for an easy approach to a sloping green.

Hole #8
A rather long carry over water to a welcoming green shouldn’t pose a problem for most players. Wind can cause havoc though, so be mindful of your distance.

Hole #9
Returning to the clubhouse, this short par-4 of is a good opportunity to make birdie before you grab a hot dog at the turn.

Hole #10
With O.B. left, playing your tee shot to the right offers the best approach to the green. Into a wind, it can play longer than its 362-390 yards.

Hole #11
This hole presents a challenge and may be an opportunity for a birdie, but to escape with a Par is a good score. At 552 yards from the back tees and 537 yards from the regular tees, shot placement is paramount to scoring. There are several playing options relative to scoring.

Hole #12
A stout par-4 at 420 yards, you’ll enjoy biting off as much as you can chew on this great golf hole. Keep you tee shot in the sort grass to avoid water and bunkers that come into play.

Hole #13
There’s no let-up here as this hole measures between 385 to 421 yards. Majestic oak trees come into play, so your drive must find the fairway if you want to go at the green.

Hole #14
A short par-4, the hole gives the player a chance to relax a bit off the tee. While only 387 yards from the tips, players are often greeted on the green by devilish hole locations surrounded by well-sloped green side bunkers.

Hole #15
On the card it reads as a par 3 but this green has been home to many a three and even four putt. Watch out for trees that protect the green and an undulating green that’ll keep your putter’s attention. It plays from 175 to 193 yards but provides bail-outs if necessary.

Hole #16
A relatively benign par-5, this short hole gives the player a good opportunity for birdie as it plays from 450 to 484 yards.

Hole #17
A par-3 that’s all carry over water with bunkers in the front left and right. Choose the right club, as the deep green can add a club or two to your iron selection as you play this straight forward hole from either the 159 yard tee or the back tees at 170 yards.

Hole #18
The closing hole is short enough at just 382 yards from the tips to offer a birdie opportunity, but don’t be fooled. Take dead aim from the tee – you’ve got to hit the tight tree-lined fairway for a good chance at the green.
